  I called Halliday Refrigeration for a furnace repair issue and clearly described the symptoms before Al arrived and again once he got here. Those symptoms pointed very clearly to a potential thermostat issue. What should have been a $200 job ( $75 thermostat and $120 labour and truck charge) became once costing over $650.

  from the initial phone call with Peggy, two days with Ernie to the final tech teaching with Anthony; every detail as well as all staff were so professional, caring and honest. We have one of the best furnaces and air cleaning systems thanks to Al his staff! We highly recommend this company!

  Al seemed to come with a pre-determined solution in mind and it seemed that his diagnostic and problem solving skills were limited. He replaced one component that was working perfectly well (but appeared not to be working because of a thermostat signal problem) and spent 3 hours doing work that was not required had he checked the thermostat first.

  Had a refrigeration company come to check out my furnace and why it had stopped,10 minutes later his diagnosis that I need a new furnace and charges me $99.95. Call Halliday Refrigeration for second opinion within 15 minutes had furnace up and running like new. The other company must have sent a salesman rather than a service man. Saved thousands thanks to Allan at Halifax Refrigeration.

  I don't dispute that he spent the stated time on the job, just that all the time was not necessary, nor was the replacement of a $150 part that was working before his intervention. I should note that I did speak with Al after the job and before posting this review, but he was unwilling to make things right.
